Yard Service and or Turn Around/Essential Private Property Pickup/Drop Off Application and Agreement Form

Your bus driver will give you the appropriate form based on the requirement to go into the yard at your residence. For any reason, if a parent requests that the bus come into the yard to pick up their child there will be a fee. There are now two separate administrative procedures on yard service and turn arounds/essential private property pick ups/drop offs.

If you would like to review how are bus stops are assessed for safety you can review our Rural Bus Stop Assessment Administrative Procedure.

Please complete the form your bus driver gives you and give it back to your bus contractor. They will submit it to the Transportation Department. Final approval by the Director of Transportation will be based on current Buffalo Trail Public Schools administrative procedure. Service will not begin until it has been approved. You will be notified if it is approved and if payment is required in a subsequent email.

Please make the payment at the school or online. Cheques are payable to Buffalo Trail Public Schools. Payments that were submitted with the application will not be processed until the Director of Transportation can confirm ride times and approve the request. As bus drivers are still receiving new registrations and figuring out their ride times, yard service requests may not be processed for several weeks.

Click here for the administrative procedure on paid yard service. The current bus route must not have an overall ride time of 75 minutes for yard service to be permitted. Yard service applications on bus routes with a ride time over 75 minutes will be denied.

Click here for the administrative procedure on turn arounds/essential private property pickups/drop offs. There is a fee for going into yards whose private lane distance is over 250 m (125 m each way) as funding from the government is only provided to the gate (where the municipal road or highway meets the entrance to the private property). The fee to is cover the excess mileage, wear and tear the bus contractor incurs to travel on the private property that is unfunded by Alberta Education. There is an increased fee for private lanes over 1.5 km (750 m each way).

This form is only available in printable format and you must get the appropriate form from your bus contractor/driver.
