Transportation to a Second Primary Residence

Alberta Education only funds students for transportation to their primary residence address. A student’s primary address is the one that parents/guardians submit on the student’s demographics’ page of the Student Registration Form.

The Board understands that there may be times when a child has two primary addresses (i.e. joint custody, town residence and/or farm/cabin). If a family is requesting transportation services to both residences, there will be a fee to the second primary residence. The fee applies to eligible and ineligible passengers.

Ineligible passengers are defined as those students residing less than 1.0 km for grades K-6 or 2.0 km for grades 7-12 by roadway or public right of way from their designated school pursuant to Section 51 (3) of the School Act. All ineligible passengers are required to pay a fee.

Eligible passengers are defined as those students residing 1.0 km or more for grades K-6 or 2.0 km or more for grades 7-12 by roadway or public right of way from their designated school pursuant to Section 51 (3) of the School Act. Eligible passengers registered on one bus, riding on another bus or when the bus has to go off route to a second primary residence will also be required to pay a fee.

Payment (if applicable) must be received before bussing service begins.  Payment plans are available, and you can pay by cash, cheque, money order or we now have the option to pay online and e-transfer.  See information at the bottom of the red column on the left for payment option details.
