Year 6 2024

Hello to all of you in Year 6 in 2024.  You'll find everything here that we do in the Studio - so you can work on it, improve your skills and have a blast when you're at home!

First up in 2024 is our Term 1 Week 5 Assembly performance.  Year 6 are leading the assembly so it's pretty important that we put up a musical performance we can all be proud of.

We'll perform the waiata 'Pa Mai' with actions and chant.  Please work hard, using these clips to make sure that you know it well and can perform to a high level as part of the Year 6 team.

There's three versions here.  The first one is 'a capella' (without instruments), the second one is faster with instruments and the third gives you the actions.  Use whichever ones help you learn best.

Here are two clips that might help you learn the names of the white and black keys on any piano or keyboard.  I wonder which clip helps you the most?

'Pepeha' by Six60

Now we are focusing on our Assembly performance at the end of this Term.  We'll work on Six60's beautiful song 'Pepeha' and perform with instruments and vocals.  You've all made a start on keyboard so here's some clips that might help you.  We'll set everything up in Te Ngahere for you to practise on during the term.

Here's the youtube clip showing all the chords.  There will be some chord cards with the keyboards but all the chords are also here for you to use at home if you'd like to put in some extra time.

What do the Pepeha chords look like?

Here's the chord sequence for the chorus and the verses.  The two highlighted chords are only played at the end of the instrumental (same as the chorus sequence)

Here's the five chords for 'Pepeha' on ukulele - most of you will remember these from Year 5 so please use your knowledge to help those new to learning the ukulele.
