Year 5 2024

Hello Year 5 students!  We are spending time in Term 1 revamping recorder skills with some challenge involved in learning new notes.  Here we go!

So, now that the notes B, A and G are rock solid as you have been learning them for two years, how about trying two new notes?   They are called C and D and are the two next notes as you your notes go higher.  Here's a great clip explaining how to play these two notes.  Practise heaps and you'll have them sounding great super quickly.

So, when you have these two notes sounding brilliant, have a go at playing along to 'We Will Rock You'.

Here's a nice easy one to practise with - it just uses good old B, A and G but is a bit of fun!  Have a go.

Now, we are heading down to the low notes.   You will learn how to play the low D that you need for this song.  Start with the chorus in this clip,  which you will learn first.  I'll be teaching you how to read those 'proper' music notes next term!

We've learned three new  low notes this term...E, F# and low D.  Here's a couple of clips to remind you how to play these notes.  When you've mastered them, you can play 'Koromiko'.  Have fun and challenge yourself!

Here's a beautiful New Zealand song called 'Koromiko'.  It uses the low notes E, F# (pronounced F sharp) and Low D.
