Accounting I

Course Description

Accounting I is a full year course that gives students a thorough background in the standard accounting procedures and principles used to produce the financial records of a business. We will look at the parts of the accounting cycle to produce our final project. These parts are: the classification of accounts, learning types of transactions, becoming familiar with the various types of journals, posting, worksheets, adjusting and closing entries, payroll, and financial reports which are used in the business world. In this class, we will prepare records for a sole proprietorship. At the end of the year we will complete a project using what you have learned all year. Computers and calculators will be used in class.

Classwork & Homework 60%

Quizzes 10%

Tests/Projects 30%

*You will be given a midterm and final exam.

Regular class attendance is necessary. Current assignments are based on past assignments. Therefore, makeup work must be done promptly. See Mrs. Selby immediately upon your return to find out what you missed.
