Jazz Band

Jazz Band Overview

The Jazz Band explores the art of Jazz, and it's various forms and styles. The students will develop proficiency in the various fundamentals of jazz, including rhythms, articulations, scales, technique, improvisation, and comparing and contrasting various styles. The students will explore Jazz as an American art form with roots derived from Africa, and they will also explore Jazz as an aural tradition in it's early stages.

Jazz Band rehearses in the mornings before school, beginning in the fall after marching band season is complete. Enrollment and participation is determined by audition or Director permission. The Jazz Band performs at concerts throughout the year, including festivals in the spring.
