Q1. What is Jukebox Jingles?
A1. Jukebox Jingles is a ZPS Orchestra fundraiser. Three large rooms at Cityside are transformed into cafe’s. The orchestra students have chosen 2- 3 songs to learn in small ensembles. Each cafe’ has a jukebox in which these songs are posted to be purchased by our guests.
Students are assigned to a cafe’ and wait for their song to be purchased. A DJ will tell the ensemble when it is their time to play and what song to play. This event is a culmination of learning how to arrange music and work in an ensemble. As part of the curriculum, this is a required performance.
Admission is FREE for this family friendly event. Funds are raised by purchasing these options: dinner, baked goods, raffle tickets, silent auction, and tickets for a 40’ x 40’ maze.
Q2. What do students wear?
A2. middle school Girls may wear 1) their white orchestra blouses and a poodle skirt; 2) the Moxie Strings orchestra t-shirt with black pants, black socks and black shoes; or 3) the Moxie Strings orchestra t-shirt with blue jeans (no holes, rips, tears, faded areas frays) with appropriate socks and shoes (think performance attire), 4) Orchestra concert attire: white blouse, solid black skirt or pant, solid black socks and solid black shoes.
middle school Boys may wear 1) a clean white t-shirt, blue jeans with white socks and black shoes; 2) the Moxie Strings orchestra t-shirt with black pants, black socks and black shoes; or 3) the Moxie Strings orchestra t-shirt with blue jeans (no holes, rips, tears, faded areas frays) with appropriate socks and shoes (think performance attire), 4) Orchestra concert attire: white shirt, black tie, solid black skirt or pant, solid black socks and solid black shoes.
high school students have the option to wear the above apparel or receive approval from Mrs. Ten Elshof of matching attire that would have been worn in the year that their song was popular. Attire must meet the school dress code.
Q3. Where do students bring their coat and case?
A3a. 6th grade students will bring their coats and cases to the choir room (down the hallway by the showcase/pool end of the building
A3b. Creekside 7th & 8th grade students will bring their coats and cases to Room 123
A3c. Cityside 7th & 8th grade students will bring their coats and cases to Room 125
A3d. High School students will bring their coats and cases to the band room.
Q4. What time should students arrive at Cityside?
A4a. Complimentary pizza is served in the cafeteria 5:15 pm for students who are playing or working during the 6:30 pm session. Students will place a pizza order and receive a wristband to receive their ordered slices.
A4b. If a student is working or performing during the 6:30 session and does not want pizza at 5:15, they should arrive by 5:45 to tune.
A4c. If a student is only performing during the 7:30 pm session, they may choose arrive no later than 6:45 pm. If they would like complimentary pizza, and plan to tune their instruments and warm-up from 5:45-6:15, they are free to be supervised by an adult during the first session. All school rules apply at this school event.
Q5. What is the schedule for the night?
A5. 6:15 pm doors open in the cafe’s: place a food and/or music order
6:30 pm - 7:15 pm music is played
7:00 pm RAFFLE tickets are pulled and posted by 7:15 pm
7:15 pm - 7:30 pm INTERMISSION
7:30 pm - 8:15 pm music is played
8:00 pm RAFFLE tickets are pulled and posted by 8:15 pm
8:15 pm - 8:30 pm move to the Auditorium
8:30 pm final RAFFLE tickets are pulled and announced in LOKERS Aud. followed by a 15 minute
