Arranging Idea: Take a song and divide it into phrases. Send a video or recording of the song to each student from which to learn their phrase. Have each student learn their phrase and send you a video. You can thread them all together and invite everyone to a virtual viewing party!
Practicing Idea: Have students create a list of words using the 7 letters of the musical alphabet.
>First option: Have them 'play the letters of the word' in a familiar key. For an orchestra example, 'cafe' will be played 'C# A F# E' by beginners. For a band example: 'bead' will be played 'Bb Eb A D'. As the students learn other keys, they can play the word in those keys.
>Second option: Have the student write a story that includes the words from the list. When the story is read, the student can play the music alphabet word.
>Third option: Teacher takes the story and adds staff in the place of the alphabet word. Student will add their instrument clef and the notes that correspond to the word. These are two examples My Sister, Deb and My Dad
