Spring Art Show reception, April 22, 2015
It's that time of year, again! The Zeeland Public School Art Department (K-12) presents student artwork at the Royal Atrium Inn on April 22! To add to the ambiance of the evening, the art teachers request orchestra students to perform in the atrium area. This is a great opportunity for your musician to share his/her talents with the community. It is this type of venue that many students will continue to find themselves in as they progress in their playing ability.
The students are assigned to small ensembles to prepare music for this event. Please encourage your musician to dress for success; concert attire is not required, but they should wear nice dress clothing (no blue jeans, no holes, tears, frays or faded clothing). The students should arrive a half hour before their scheduled time to perform. This will give them time to tune their instruments and warm-up. They are dismissed after they play. Thank you for supporting the orchestra musicians at this event!
JUKEBOX JINGLES 2015: Name that 'Toon!
On Friday, March 13, three Cityside rooms will be transformed into lively cafe's. Each cafe will sport a jukebox from which our guests may purchase tunes featured in cartoons from a by-gone era to today! This is a night of student music, family atmosphere and great food for all! Returning to Cityside after a year at the Howard Miller Community Center, many changes will be made for better service and healthier food selections! The students are beginning the process of choosing their ensemble members, their song selections and I've even heard of one student preparing the outfit! Talk about catching the excitement!!!! There is no entry fee; guests are invited to purchase dinner while listening to the live music they have purchased from the jukebox. If seeing is believing, then check out Jukebox Jingles 2013. Of course, the actual event is much more exciting than still life photos, SO, mark your calendar now to attend Jukebox Jingles 2015 on March 13 at 6:30pm!
The Moxie Strings, October 16, 2014
The Moxie Strings return to Zeeland for a clinic and performance with the Zeeland Orchestras on October 16. This "do-not-miss!!" event is being held in the De Witt Auditorium on the campus of Zeeland EAST High School. This dynamic celtic alternative rock duo reinforce what the students are learning about improvisation, arranging and composition. This year, the students will learn a song in a two hour clinic, arrange the song and improvise on the melody. The students in turn will teach a song to The Moxie Strings. The added bonus to this year's event is the opportunity to accompany The Moxie Strings on some of their own tunes! This will be a great night of high energy, rockin' strings on the new set of electric instruments!!! Tickets will be sold for this event: $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students, children 4 and under are FREE. to learn more about the dynamic celtic alternative rock trio visit their webpage at http://www.themoxiestrings.com/ Ticket information can be found here: https://sites.google.com/a/zps.org/zps-performing-arts/ticket-order-forms. Fall Art Show reception, November 4, 2014
Every year the Zeeland Public School Art Department (K-12) presents a Fall Show of student artwork at the Royal Atrium Inn. To add to the ambiance of the evening, the art teachers request orchestra students to perform in the atrium area. This is a great opportunity for your musician to share his/her talents with the community. It is this type of venue that many students will continue to find themselves in as they progress in their playing ability.
The Royal Atrium Inn is one of the buildings in the Royal Park Place complex. It is located south of Chicago Drive off of 96th street. It is a beautiful “garden” in which to play: the residents enjoy hearing young people perform and the music creates a lovely ambience while parents and relatives walk the “art gallery”. Since this an excellent venue for a performance by young musicians, I believe that you will find this opportunity to be a rewarding experience. The students will choose from music that they are playing in class. They may play as a solo, duet or other ensemble size. I will accompany them on the piano.
Please dress for success; concert attire is not required, but the students should wear nice dress clothing (no blue jeans, no holes, tears, frays or faded clothing). The students should arrive a half hour before their scheduled time to perform. This will give them time to tune their instruments and warm-up. They are dismissed after they play.
