Y12 Biology

Life is incredibly varied, yet based on common processes. Biologists – and students studying biology – seek evidence to explain the nature of living things, and to understand where and how life is evolving, how evolution links life processes and ecology, and the impact that humans have on all forms of life. The fundamental aims of biology in year 12 are expressed as a series of the following achievement standards;

• AS91153 2.1 Carry out a practical investigation in a biology context, with supervision
• AS91154 2.2 Analyse the biological validity of information presented to the public.
• AS91155 2.3 Demonstrate understanding of adaptation of plants or animals to their way of life.
• AS91156 2.4 Demonstrate understanding of life processes at the cellular level.
• AS91159 2.7 Demonstrate understanding of gene expression.
