Early Years: NA
Dear Parents of Pre-KG, KG1, KG2, and Grade 1 children,
Welcome to an exciting 2022-2023 school year! The bubbles have gone, the restrictions are lifting, and it is lovely to start to get back to some semblance of normal. Please allow me to introduce myself to you.
I joined SZPAB in August 2022 as Head of Early Childhood and feel it is a role of great privilege. Early Years education is my passion and I fully believe in providing the most optimum environment in which our youngest learners can thrive academically, socially and emotionally and set them on the path to being the leaders of tomorrow. During my 20 years in education, I have been fortunate to have worked with children from the ages of 6 months to 11 years old. I have been a leader for 18 of those 20 years and have successfully set up and established a variety of early years settings, worked as an Early Years consultant for local government in the UK and have been a Special Educational Needs Coordinator. I am in my ninth year of working internationally now, with the vast majority of that time being with Emirati children and their parents.
My personal philosophy of education is rooted in ensuring children are happy, healthy and safe. When this foundation is in place, we can build challenge, resilience, independence and a natural curiosity and a “have a go attitude” that will serve them well in the future.
I am looking forward to meeting you all and work with you at different points of our school year.
Here’s to a successful school year.
Miss Nicola Lavis
Head of Early Years
