WHO: Students previously homeschooled or enrolled in a non-accredited school, currently enrolling into Yukon Public Schools. (OAC 210:35-25-2)
WHEN: Upon enrollment into Yukon Public Schools.
WHY: In order to ensure proper grade level placement of students to optimize their academic success.
WHAT: Assessments will measure the current level of mastery of the Oklahoma Academic Standards (OAS) in the same way that curriculum and instruction are aligned with OAS. (OAC 210:35-25-2)
HOW: Students will be referred for placement testing upon enrollment in Yukon Public Schools. All forms and required documents must still be provided to the Yukon Enrollment Center before a student can begin school. Additional documentation will be considered, such as performance levels on available assessments, academic grades per course, and/or student work samples.
Successful demonstration of proficiency shall meet all of the following requirements:
Yukon PS shall conference with the parents/guardians when making decisions regarding student placement. Factors such as social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the student will be considered.
The student will show a level of proficiency in any sequence recommended by the school district of the Oklahoma Academic Standards (OAS) in core curriculum courses.
If the parent/guardian requests placement contrary to the recommendation of school personnel, the parent/guardian shall sign a written statement which shall be included in the permanent record of the student.

The Office of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (CIA) will contact you to schedule testing for your student(s).
Additional documentation may be requested, such as:
Available current assessment results
Record of academic grades
Student work samples
Notification to the parent/guardian will occur within two weeks of test administration.
To request a grade placement appeal, complete the Appeal Form, and return it to the CIA office at:
