WHAT IS SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL)?

Social-emotional learning (SEL) is learning how to:

- Be aware of yourself and how you feel

- Be in control of yourself, even when you can't control everything

-Be a good friend, neighbor, classmate, and person in your community

-Make good and responsible choices

Your child's social-emotional development motivates them to learn critical skills such as the ability to communicate, connect with others, resolve conflict, self-regulate, display kindness and empathy, and cope with challenges.

Social and personal skills are the ability to recognize how ones actions effect not only themselves, but those around them. In addition, it is being able to identify feelings and manage them in order to improve relationships and make responsible decisions.
