Plantar Fasciitis

PLANTAR FASCIITIS - ARCH PAIN

Plantar fasciitis is a disorder that results in pain in the heel and bottom of the foot.

The pain is usually most severe with the first steps of the day or following a period of rest.

It is also associated with inward rolling of the foot (pronation).

Heel Spurs are frequently found.

Most cases of plantar fasciitis resolve with time and Orthotic Treatment.

PLANTAR FASCIITIS

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common disorders seen relative to the foot pain.

The primary cause is due to the inability of the foot to properly transmit load of body weight during the walking (gait) cycle.

With this disorder there is a problem where bone fails to support bodyweight as a result of a failure of joints properly working (joint locking).

When this happens, the force of body weight moves onto soft tissue structures on the bottom of the foot (flexor muscles and plantar fascia).

These structures are not designed to take extreme cyclic load and thereby become inflamed leading to irritation and pain while standing and walking.
