Seas of vibrant hues,
Kissing the horizon's edge,
Summer's masterpiece.

Author's Note: I was inspired by the anime: Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and I wanted to make a poem for it since it's very special to me.
Dear moonlight
Why is it that every time I have found peace
That a new villain of the week shows up?
It’s not fair to me or fair to my friends
We keep dropping everything in the flicker of light
Just so we can prove our fight
I don’t like running in the rain
It’s cold and dark
We fight with our powers of elements
The villain gets stronger each time
Why don’t we give up?
We just keep fighting
Will there be a day we can’t catch up?
Or is all of our fighting training?
The future in unseen
I was promised a crystal clear future
We didn’t know a thing about time
Now we do and it’s showing through the cracks of fights

Author's Note: I have always loved wintertime. The beauty of snow and everything about winter really inspired me to write this poem because it always reminded me of the cold, family, and the feelings that come along with those things.
Chilly winter snow,
Rosy cheeks from the cold air,
A day so peaceful.

Author's Note: My Mom and my grandparents are immigrants. I'm always thinking about the effects their American experience has had on me.
“finally, freedom”
my heart will always be
over a wall, not a fence, not a line
behind
the hostility
of barricaded ice
there is no trace of people
who cannot settle
why chase rabbits?
when you were a bunny yourself
are you to blame
for my life sentence?
or am i
running a race you will not know
I am always more talented
than a rabbit
they have always belonged
because we are foreign,
over a wall

Author's Note: This is one of my favorite English assignments co written with Sofia N.M :)
Rats are the kings of the earth
As they fill our lives with great mirth
With delicious meals, they help humans prepare
Under a chef's hat in our hair
They cook delicious feasts
For us beasts
But don’t get an ounce of credit
Because of their movie, people think it is an edit
This is nonsense
You’re looking through the wrong lens
Are you dense?
Or are you just still on the fence?
You may not agree with me,
But please just let the rats be free,
Of your criticism and evil shouts,
Now you will no longer have your doubts.
This about rats is true
Just as much as me, and you.

Author’s Note: I’m not the best at poetry, but whenever I do write something I let my thoughts loose. So, if there is not much rhythm or the poem doesn’t stick to iambic pentameter… oh well. Anyways, this little poem is about the fictional worlds I like to create and my attachment to them.
Laying on grass in the daytime,
Looking up at the brilliant star in the sky,
The chirps of birds are like chimes,
The rattling or crickets and buzzing of bees,
The rustling of bushes and crunching of leaves,
Are all sounds that help me dream.
They help me dream of the worlds beyond,
Beyond this one and of the mind,
Some would perish if these worlds be gone,
And certainly will I, if I lose mine.
My world mirrors this one,
It has a daily bright star shining in the sky,
It has my neighbors green grass, as I lay on their lawn.
My world has everything that this one does,
And just a little bit more.
My world has those creatures,
The ones that aren't true here.
My world has the monsters,
That make people cower in fear.
They need a home too
And my world is just the place.
My world is perfect in my mind,
Time ticks by, just like this one, at its own pace.
The world that I'm dreaming of,
What should I call it?
Should I search for names and symbolic meanings?
Or just leave it untitled, and continue to dream?

There’s a shoe on the shoulder of the highway entrance ramp
alone among the litter
it looks so small, like the shoe of a child
left on the roadside
I wonder,
Whose was it?
How did they lose it?
Are they okay?
Once, my brother lost his shoe,
his favorite little wall-e shoe
that would light up when he danced
And he cast it over the railing of the aquarium
into the sea
Did it ever wash up?
Did someone wonder what it was?
A part of us is left in our childhood shoes,
tiny and impractical and innocent
until we throw them away,
off railings and out windows
to rot on shores and shoulders

Author's Note: This is just a class assignment inspired by one of Chen Chen’s poems. It is basically about how I want to be a writer… yeah.
I want
a life with worlds beyond my imagination
that still comes from my brain. I want
to be a creator. I want an inner shell
full of color. I want that vibrance
to explode out from plain ink letters.
I want to have a muted exterior. A grey wall
nearly impenetrable, is what I want
to surround me. I want that creativeness
to coexist with a calm and reserved self.

The Tortoise Didn’t Win. The Hare Lost.
We’ve all heard of the story of the Tortoise vs the Hare.
The hare thought he had that race in the bag,
No, he knew he had that race in the bag.
But we all know how that story ended
Every time I am reminded of that story I can’t help but feel for the hare.
Feeling the eyes of all the spectators who witnessed his failure
That burning humiliation he must have felt from his face to his chest.
He had all of the advantages the world had to offer for a challenge like this
Not only that, but he lost to someone with the LEAST advantages.
Someone from a species that is known for how slow it moves.
People often credit the tortoise for its wit, that he played to his strengths which led him to victory
But that’s simply not true.
The hare had every single feat in mobility that the tortoise did and more.
The reason he lost was because he used the wrong feat in the wrong race.
If he had just had a proper instructor who taught him how to maintain a consistent pace throughout the race, rather than just sprinting the whole time and gassing himself out, then he would have easily smoked the tortoise.
After all, it wasn’t a sprint. It was a marathon.
In other words, the tortoise didn’t win. The hare just lost.
Regardless of my opinion, the tortoise is still remembered by most as the clever underdog who overcame his struggles with all the odds against him.
Though, I can’t blame the hare for not hiring that instructor ahead of time.
It can be expensive at times
On top of that, sometimes learning how to do certain things can be common sense. Especially to a talented person like the hare. You may feel like a sucker for not figuring it out yourself and paying all of this money to this “professional.”
As I’ve used chopsticks more, I’ve come to realize that learning how to use chopsticks is similar to learning how to keep a consistent pace in a race.
Chopsticks require precision and steadiness.
It forces you to slow down when trying to eat your meals.
When you eat quickly, your brain doesn't have enough time to register that you're full,
often leading to overeating and consuming more calories than your body needs.
This can contribute to weight gain and obesity over time.
Chewing food thoroughly is important for oral health as well.
Eating too quickly can lead to inadequate chewing, which may increase the risk of dental issues such as cavities and gum disease.
Those are only two health benefits of using chopsticks
Depending on the scenario, it may be beneficial to consider using chopsticks to support your overall health and live a longer life.
Life isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon.
