Struggling with procrastination is understandable, given the pressures of academic life. This workshop explained why we procrastinate, and what we can do to counter it.
This workshop, delivered October 2025, explained many aspects of University culture that might be unfamiliar to international or new students: who everyone is, how things work, how you learn, how we teach, how you are assessed and how to ask for help. In collaboration with with the Early Careers Network, Open Door Practitioners and Wellbeing Officers delivered this session on balancing teaching and researching alongside your other commitments. Topics include work/life balance, stress management, anxiety response, imposter syndrome, and perfectionsim. This will hopefully be of interest to ECRs, PGRs, and GTAs. You can find the slides here.
This workshop was specifically for students either resitting exams, taking exams 'as if for the first time' as a result of a successful exceptional circumstances claim, or for students who deferred exams due to a self-certification. The slides are available here.
This online session detailed the benefits to your wellbeing of sport, exercise, being outdoors and being in nature, as well as opportunities to do this in York. The slides are available here.
The cold weather and dark days of winter can be a challenge to our wellbeing. Many of us may experience the ‘winter blues.’ This workshop, most recently delivered in November 2024, first explains that challenge, and will then provides guidance, advice and support, so that you can counter it and prevent it.
