The International Student Support Team is here to assist our students with immigration advice, practical help with settling into life in the UK and building a strong sense of community at York for our international students.
The best way to get in touch with the International Student Support Team is by completing our self-referral form. The Team aims to respond to your query within 5 working days but please bear with us at busy periods of the year.

Can't make it to Campus? That's okay, you can still speak directly with a member of our team via our weekly Zoom drop-ins!
These sessions are great if you have a quick question to ask of the Team regarding your immigration status, visa or experience at University.
If you have a more sensitive or complex matter you wish to discuss, please use our self-referral form to book an appointment.

International Student Buddy Scheme
International Student Buddy Scheme
Are you a new international student joining the University of York this September? Moving to a new country and starting university life can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming at times.
To help you settle in, you can request a Buddy through our International Student Buddying Scheme. Your Buddy will be a current York student who understands what it’s like to be new and is here to support you during your first semester.
They’ll be a friendly point of contact who can:
✅ Answer your questions about student life
✅ Share tips on navigating campus and your timetable
✅ Recommend great places to eat, shop, or explore in York
✅ Help you feel more connected to the student community
It’s a great way to make your transition easier and start building friendships from day one.
