The Interdisciplinary Global Development Centre (IGDC) is pleased to announce its first photography competition! With the theme of ‘Celebrating People and Places Globally’, entries should aim to promote the diversity of people and places from across the world.

The competition is now CLOSED. The winners were announced at the Evening Awards Ceremony on Thursday 22nd November. A very successful event with fantastic performances, food and speeches alongside an excellent exhibition of the shortlisted photos. View the winning entries here.

The IGDC is a major new interdisciplinary Centre for research, teaching and partnership for global development based in Derwent college at the University of York. Led by the Departments of Politics, Environment and History, the IGDC works across and beyond the University to collaborate with partners worldwide to create new interdisciplinary and innovative approaches to tackle global challenges.

Our research is guided by principles of social justice, fairness and environmental sustainability. We work across the world, including Africa, South America and Asia. Our research spans the rural and urban, and from the mountains to the coast.
