The overall theme of the competition is ‘Celebrating People and Places Globally’. Entries can therefore be inspired by, but are not limited to, our research areas of citizenship, development alternatives, governance, health & wellbeing and sustainability. Up to 3 entries are permitted per person.

Shortlisted entries will be featured in a four-day exhibition to be held at the University of York from the 19th-22nd November and on electronic screens across the campus and an online gallery. There will also be an exciting Evening Awards Ceremony held on the 22nd November where the winners will be announced! This event will celebrate international diversity and raise awareness of global development. It will feature international food and entertainment, a judging panel made up of internal and external guests and the opportunity to view and vote for the shortlisted photographs.
