REM@KE is an interdisciplinary ERC Synergy project co-led by Andrea Schiavio that has received over €8 million to develop new ways of studying and experiencing historical musical instruments and the people connected to them. Based in Cremona (IT), York (UK), and Göteborg (SE), the project brings together experts across organology, performance research, and cognitive science to explore how musicians, builders, teachers, and students engage with historical instruments and their replicas, examining how their affordances can shape learning, creativity, and embodied experience.
REM@KE aligns closely with the aims of CeMEHF: expanding opportunities for meaningful musical engagement, preserving cultural heritage through lived experience, and fostering new pathways for learners and educators to grow and thrive through music-making.
