WCC Commission on Education and Ecumenical Formation

The meeting of the WCC Commission on Education and Ecumenical Formation, running until 28 June, aims to plan and envision the commission’s work for the next eight years while learning from the past. (Link)

I had the privilege of participating as a staff member in the WCC Commission on Education and Ecumenical Formation meeting held at Yonsei University. Contributing to discussions on new approaches and witnessing the profound commitment to ecumenical education and collaboration was an enriching experience. The event underscored the importance of unity and cooperative spirit, aligning with my passion for pastoral care and ministry.

Asian Minjung Theology Consultation 2023

"Jesus is a Minjung(ochlos) and collective event. ... We cannot say that the slave-like people in Japan and people in Korea are the same. However, the basic event common to both groups started with the cross of Jesus." (Ahn)

Participating in the "Asian Minjung Theology Consultation 2023" as a closing presenter and panelist was a profound honor during my journey toward a theologian. Engaging in academic dialogues with scholars from over eight countries provided valuable insights into Minjung Theology and Byung-Mu Ahn's Theology. Dr. Michael Welker's public lecture was particularly enlightening, sparking my curiosity in the realms of liberation and Minjung Theology. Because my first academic journal was about the intersection between Moltmann's theology and Pastoral Care and Counseling, meeting with Michael who had been taught by J. Moltmann has absolutely magnificent meaning for me.

While my initial academic focus did not revolve around Minjung Theology, as a Korean theologian, it is essential to integrate Minjung Theology into the broader context of Korean Theology.

IAPT Conference 2023, Seoul

I served as the local committee staff at the International Academy of Practical Theology(IAPT) 2023 Conference, which was held at Yonsei University, from 7th June to 11th 2023.

In this conference, world-famous practical theologians, including Mary Elizabeth Moore, Elaine Graham, and Ryan LaMothe, will participate to suggest their own views about Anthropocene and practical theology on various topics. My academic advisor prof. Soo-Young Kwon was the chair of the local committee.

I manage almost all of the publication and office work stuff, including the design, name tag, banner, venue hall, website, technical issues, and even finance.

I also present my paper in the session, titled 'Pain as a Profound Mystery: Proposing Hopeful Anthropocene Pastoral Care and Counseling through Eschatological Self'. This paper will be published in an academic journal (in English) soon.
