Meet Haley Pilkington when she is not practicing or teaching yoga:
I’m Haley and I’m a New York based actor, writer and model. I grew up in North Jersey, and found my passion for the arts through singing and playing piano. My first role ever was when I was 11 years old playing Young Fan in ‘ A Christmas Carol’, and I have been acting and creating ever since.
I have an MFA in Acting from East 15 Acting School in London, UK, where I lived for two years. There, I had the opportunity of performing at multiple theatres in London, including Shakespeare’s Globe, the Bridewell Theatre, and the Corbett Theatre. Since returning to the states I have been writing a One Woman show that explores my journey with Scleroderma and Pulmonary Hypertension.
In addition to my love for theatre and acting. I am a model devoted to spreading body positivity throughout my work. I have Scleroderma Morphea on my left arm/ left side of my body and modeled in a zine called ‘Female on Film’ that honored 10 models' journeys with body image."
I am drawn to projects that embrace all the imperfections of humanity and explore the mind-body connection."
Meet Alexis Harrison: Alexis started practicing yoga during her senior year in college to combat the pain and swelling of Hashimoto’s and the dryness of Sjogren’s. Alexis later added mindfulness to her self-care which she continued through her first pregnancy with no complications despite being high risk.
At 31, she had a 1 year old, worked in a hospital, and was diagnosed with Scleroderma. She practiced yoga almost every day with mini sets of poses first thing in the morning to help her get up and going. Alexis is now a yoga teacher dedicated to bringing the benefits of yoga to children and young adults living with Scleroderma.
In 2020 in response to COVID Alexis, who has interstitial lung disease and was pregnant, temporarily moved all her teaching online. The result? The new video Pregnancy Yoga for Scleroderma is available on the Yoga for Scleroderma YouTube channel. Alexis, Daniel and Zoe welcomed baby Beck to the family on January 6, 2021.
