The Knight of Section 7

Jacob and Max

We made a digital poster of a framed section 7 of the Charter with a knight below protecting it. We chose section 7 because it represents people’s right to life, liberty, and security and we believe that this is one of the most important rights in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Section 7 of the Charter states that every person has the right to life, liberty and security and to not be deprived of that right except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice. The knight below section 7 of the charter is meant to represent that the law protects this right. We chose to have a knight in the digital poster because knights are seen as guardians who protect people and areas of importance. Overall, we believe that this right, like many others, should be protected and preserved for all people.

section 16 language rights

We chose to do this project on language rights because it seemed like a cool and interesting topic to make an art work about. We found books that had English and French writing in it because those are protected under the charter of rights that you can speak in either laugh and they have to speak to you back in it. section 16 is about how french and english are both acceptable laughs too speck in canada. The hands are holding signs saying hello in different languages because Canada is a multicultural place. But also section 14 what is the right to an interpreter.

The Balance of Equality

I want other people to look at my artwork to show that we have a right to equality to help other people with physical or mental disability, colour, race, sex, nationality ethnic origin and religon to feel safe and welcoming about who they are. I also want people to understand that we have a right to democracy and mobility because having a right to vote and to leave, remain and enter Canada.
