Why is aggressive and active proctoring important?
Rationale: The meaning of proctored exams implies that the testing process is overseen by a proctor who ensures academic integrity and prevents students from cheating. As a result of aggressive and active proctoring, educational institutions can supervise the examination process in real-time, thus reducing undesirable student activities.
There are three fundamental purposes of aggressive and active proctoring:
Protection of academic integrity
Preventing students from cheating
Assistance during the test
Aggressive & Active Proctoring IS...
Teacher walks around the room with purpose.
Teacher corrects behaviors using least-invasive techniques or interventions (i.e., proximity).
Teacher monitors the student's progress throughout the testing session.
Teacher ensures students are not clicking through the test session aimlessly.
Teacher ensures students are engaging in academic dishonesty (i.e., looking at a neighbor's Chromebook).
Teacher monitors to ensure students are only working on the testing session and not on any other computer apps or programs.
Aggressive & Active Proctoring is NOT…
Teachers grading assignments.
Teachers allowing students to draw or lay their heads down when finished with their testing session.
Teachers checking emails and social media accounts.
Teachers allowing students to click through the test session aimlessly.
Teachers on their laptops on other websites.
Teachers sitting for long periods of time.
Teachers walking around the room without purpose.
