Digital Censorship Is Introduced in Parliament:
In the play, Bernadette and Oliver face the establishment of the "Hush Law" or "Quietude Bill", a parliamentary declaration that limits everyone in the UK to speaking only 140 words per day. Off the stage, the UK is facing its own kind of censorship bill with the publishing of the Online Safety Bill in early 2021. The legislation states that it is designed to make the UK the 'safest place in the world to go online'. This is said to be done by acting on any digital content that risks 'having, or indirectly having, a significant adverse physical or psychological impact on an adult.'
While there are some who support the decision of the government to work on removing potentially harmful content from their screens, there are many in the UK that worry that this will drastically impact how things are shared online, stating that is directly violates the efficacy of freedom of speech.
Since the Bill has been published in the early months of 2021, the rules and restrictions have gotten significantly more defined, and the proposed rules have gotten much stricter. Instead of the vague definition citizens were given before, Parliament has edited to include things that are "illegal offline" that should be "regulated online" including unwanted sexual images, the promoting of violence against women and girls, and content "promoting self-harm". The public is still very divided on the stance of the bill even today. As it continues to develop, more and more people lean towards the censorship in favor of making the internet a safer place in the UK.

Play Articulate like Oliver and Bernadette!
Throughout the show, we see Oliver and Bernadette play a card game called "Articulate" known as "The Fast Talking Description Game". Many people have played similar iterations of this game like "Catchphrase", "Fishbowl", etc. While the original Articulate is a board game with cards, and timers, and pieces, you can actually play Articulate online for free!
The creators of the game, Drummond Park, created the online Articulate platform during the first national lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic to help entertain families and friends who faced isolation. The online game features all of the original cards from the physical game and allows you to play through in a virtual setting either in-person or remotely. Players can access the link here to play Articulate just like the characters of Lemons, see if you can match up with Oliver and Bernadette!
