The Little Flower

Fall/Winter Issue 2021 - 2022

A Message from Principal Ms. Mastromartino:

I am elated to see that the passion and commitment from our STL community continues to grow. Seeing our classrooms and hallways full of students warms my heart and it is a true indicator that despite the challenges Covid has bestowed on us, we are slowly getting back to normalcy. At St.Theresa of Lisieux CHS, there is a school spirit that continually shines bright; it is the place where our students and staff continue to be the greatest example of ‘Doing the Ordinary with Extraordinary Love.’ It is this school spirit that makes us unique. We started off this school year with our Terry Fox Walk where we raised over $11,000 in just 4 days! Furthermore, our sports teams, student government and other extracurricular clubs are thriving. We are earning prestigious recognition and awards for this school year for Sports, Robotics, Model UN and several more. It is the first time in 15 years that STL has a varsity curling club which has already won YRAA tournaments…Let’s Go Lions! The President's Council and several other clubs and committees continue to flourish with STL School Spirit. We are truly blessed with a dedicated staff who works hard to ensure our students are strong leaders, powerful advocates, intelligent ambassadors, and collaborative team players in the multitude of clubs, councils, committees, and teams to which they belong. We have much to be proud of!

2021 has presented its fair share of challenges; however, despite those challenges, our staff remained focused on ensuring that our students were very well prepared for the VLE platform of learning. Throughout February, our Guidance Department has been extremely busy in assisting our students with choosing courses for next year. We kindly ask parents to review their child’s course selection to ensure their academic success and wellbeing.

Our grade 12 students are now in the final stretch of their high school careers, and are determining their post-secondary options. The Admin Team excitedly connected with all grade 12 classes to provide support for their final semester of high school. We are confident that whatever path they choose, they will be well prepared with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities that post-secondary demands.

Our Catholic faith continues to be the centre from which all things emanate. We are blessed to have the continued support of Father Peter Choi and Father Pawel Zborowski, celebrating virtual masses, and offering spiritual guidance when needed. As we commence our Lenten journey, let us not forget the Lenten observances of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. May God continue to bestow upon us all abundant joy and peace always.

“...But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles…” (Isaiah 40:31).

Thank you everyone for raising over $11,000.00 for our Terry Fox Walk.
