Where are they now?

We are proud to share some of our distinguished alumni. These former students were actively involved in student life and exceeded academic expectations during their time at St. Elizabeth. Presently, they are employed in exciting and noteworthy industries where they have become global leaders.

Tara Deschamps

Tara Deschamps ('10) is a business reporter for The Canadian Press. Her work has been featured globally in publications such as The Guardian, The New York Times, and The Toronto Star. In her senior year at St. Elizabeth, Tara worked on our yearbook staff, and subsequently pursued journalism at Ryerson University.

Sierra Scodellaro

Sierra Scodellaro (‘15) is a Pharmacogenomics Data Analyst at the Hospital for Sick Children working to incorporate precision medicine into daily paediatric clinical care. She studies how differences in our genetic make-up affect each person's response to a certain medication to help individualize treatment plans for patients. After becoming interested in Biology and Human Genetics at St. Elizabeth CHS, Sierra went on to complete a Bachelor's of Science in Biomedical Sciences at Ryerson University. She then graduated with a Master's of Health Science in Medical Genomics from The University of Toronto.

Dr. Matthew Sorbara

Dr. Matthew Sorbara (‘05) is an associate professor and researcher with the University of Guelph. After graduating from St. Elizabeth, he went on to pursue an undergraduate degree in Microbiology at the University of Toronto and pursued a PhD in Immunology as well. Dr. Sorbara worked at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York & The University of Chicago for postdoctoral studies. As a St. Elizabeth student Matthew was one of the first students to participate in the Sanofi-Aventis Biogenius challenge that science students still participate in today.

Alan Shane Lewis

Alan Shane (‘07) is a comedian, actor, and writer based in Toronto, Canada. He is also co-host of CBC’s “The Great Canadian Baking Show” for seasons 4 and 5. He was featured in world-renowned Just for Laughs Festivals, and has headlined for Yuk Yuk’s comedy club. Lewis regularly appears on CBC’s “Because News” and NBA TV. He is also the host of Shopify’s YouTube series Curious Business and co-host of the podcast, Do They Deserve Love?

Regional Arts Program Alumni

Liana Belissimo

Liana Belissimo (‘10) is a professional dance artist in Toronto. She attended the Regional Arts Program at St. Elizabeth and graduated with honours in 2010. She went on to study at the Ryerson Theatre School majoring in Performance Dance where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts cum laude in 2014. Since graduating, Liana has gone on to perform professionally with the Canadian Opera Company, ProArteDanza Contemporary Ballet, and Ballet Creole. She was also a member of the cast in the hit TV series Reign, Star Trek: Discovery, the Hallmark Channel Film A Nutcracker Christmas, and also stars in the Netflix film In the Tall Grass. She has danced in music videos for artists such as Feist, The Tenors, and Scott Helman.

Paula Brancati

Paul Brancati (‘07) is a graduate of the Regional Arts Program in vocal music. She was cast in leading roles in several television series during her time as a student including her Gemini Award nominated performances in Dark Oracle and Degrassi: The Next Generation. In recent years, Paula has lead the Broadway touring company of Matilda the Musical and performed the role of Miss Honey with Mirvish in Toronto. She has also starred in the Netflix Slasher and released her second feature film as both producer and actor, Sadie’s Last Days on Earth on Netflix US (2016).

Anthony Brancati

Anthony Brancati (‘10) is an award winning international multi instrumentalist, musical director, producer, and songwriter, who has worked with the likes of Grammy Award Winners Chaka Khan, Mark Ronson, and Juno Award Winner Robi Botos. He graduated from Humber College’s esteemed Bachelor of Music Degree program with honours in 2014. He has composed, produced, and performed scores for TV & Film: Disorderly web series (Executive Producer: Drake), SlyCad (Cannes Film Festival), Sadie’s Last Days on Earth (Toronto International Film Festival). Anthony has done live performances for Toronto International Film Festival, Netflix US, Shopify, Mercedes, Rogers, TD, and TedX.

Marco Bertuzzo

Marco Bertuzzo (‘09) is a graduate of the Regional Arts Program and is an emerging contemporary artist in Toronto. After graduating from St. Marco continued his passion for the arts, and graduated from OCAD University. Most recently, he has completed his Masters of Applied Fine Arts at Central St. Martins University in London, England with specialization in Contemporary Painting. With his multimedia-based practice which spans enamel painting, video-based installations, printmaking and more traditional media, Marco’s work explores the possibilities of contemporary allegory in a post-truth world. His work has been exhibited in galleries such as the ANgell Gallery, the Toronto Artist project, and at Coldstream Fine Art in Toronto. His work has also been included in exhibitions in both the British Museum in London, England.
