Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM)
The SHSM is a voluntary, Ministry-approved program that supports students in making smooth transitions to a variety of post-secondary institutions. It is created to meet the requirements of students who choose to pursue an apprenticeship, college or university studies, or work in a particular sector. Students who successfully complete the entire program will receive a Red Seal on their Ontario Secondary School Diploma, signifying that they have concentrated their high school education on a career path that fits their interests and skills.
Components of the SHSM
The following requirements are required of students between the years of grade 11 and grade 12:
A set group of courses
Connected Learning Activity (CLA)
FREE Industry-Recognized Certifications, Awareness, Training
Experiential Learning
“Reach Ahead” Experiences

Follow the steps outlined in the video to declare interest in a SHSM program on My Blueprint (click the image to the right)
Complete and fill out the Google Form Application here
Once the form is completed, please do the following:
Print it out (a copy will be emailed to you after you fill it out)
Student and parent/guardian should sign the application form
Submit the application form to the Guidance Office Secretary
