Programs and Pathways seeks student-teacher teams prepared to answer this year’s Call for Proposals (CFP) to fund Experiential Learning Projects.
The purpose of Calls for Proposals (CFP) is to continue encouraging schools to develop innovative community-connected experiential learning opportunities that support student achievement, student engagement and well-being.
Projects may be designed to meet the needs of individual learners, small groups with similar needs, an entire class, course, or school (e.g., a grade- or subject-specific class, Indigenous students, children and youth in care, students with special educational needs, and students who are seeking re-engagement opportunities). . All projects will focus on improving student achievement, engagement and well-being. All projects should provide experiences that are age-and developmentally-appropriate, culturally responsive, relevant and engaging, fully accessible to students from diverse backgrounds, abilities and communities in order to promote achievement, equity and well-being.
Projects must deepen students’ understanding of knowledge, skills and concepts within the curriculum, which may include global competencies as reflected in our board vision statement and Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations.
The experiential learning opportunity connected to the community must take place within the regular scope of teachers’ roles and practices, not as part of an extracurricular activity.

Many schools are already engaging in approaches or delivering programs that are experiential in nature. Funding may be used to augment existing initiatives (e.g. collaborative inquiry, outdoor education, design thinking projects, fundamentals of math, indigenous education); however, the project must clearly articulate the learning based on the criteria above.
Preference will be given to funding requests that are modular in nature, ie. a request for a list of items that are still usable, even if the entire requested amount cannot be granted.
In addition, school boards and school authorities must adhere to the funding criteria outlined below when developing their budget proposals for their project. Funding can only be used for expenses directly related to the development and implementation of the project, including:
