1) What if I did use external sources, but my teacher didn't say anything about citations?
We strongly recommend you to ask your teacher, it is better to be safe than to have marks taken off.
2) What if my citation generator made a mistake?
Fix it! You are responsible for the final citation, not the website.
3) Do I have to use Mybib?
No, there are plenty online! This is just the one we recommend.
4) Does this cover everything I need to know?
This guide covers the basics which will get you through MOST of high school. There are other styles such as Chicago, however by the time this shows up you should already be comfortable with it as the others are simple to learn once you understand the basic concept!
5) Why can't I just use ChatGPT?
ChatGPT DOES NOT provide accurate citations and makes obvious formatting errors (Teachers can spot this!). We strongly urge that you cite properly after finding your own sources.
6) What if I find a mistake on this guide?
Please send an email to sumyee.chan28@ycdsbk12.ca or puiyee.chan28@ycdsbk12.ca so we are able to fix it! This is a student made guide so mistakes may happen.
7) Why was this site created?
We have noticed over a period of time that a lot of classmates (especially during our time in grade 9) struggle with citations. We hope that this guide will make citations clearer and more accessible for everyone to learn.
