An important concept I learned this semester in art fundamentals is the importance of negative and positive space. When drawing especially patterns, it’s crucial to create a piece with the least amount of positive space possible. It really constructs more eye-catching artwork. The “Controlled Doodle” project helped me learn this. Another important concept I learned was the significance of value and shadows. Implementing these two aspects into artwork helps give it life and emotion. I learned this during the “Still Life Drawing” project.
The assignment I’m most proud of this semester is the “Controlled Doodle” project. I’m most proud of this because it portrays my best work, and I’m very pleased with the way it turned out. It impacted my learning by showing me how creative I can be with just a sharpie and a piece of paper.
I make art for numerous reasons. Whether it's taking photographs, painting, or doing sketches along the margins of my math worksheets, I enjoy it. It helps me ease my stress and express how I feel. I wouldn't say I'm very good at art, so that being said I would like to simply improve my skill. Once have the basics down, I would love to be able to make my art look more "professional" with things like shading, etc. Something I hope to get out of this class is to be able to draw anything I want and have it look good.
