Final Reflection:
I am most proud of my value portrait. I have tried to draw myself many times in black and white using shading, and they never come out quite right. Something is always slightly off that makes the portrait look like someone else. However with this project, it turned out to be a fairly accurate representation of my face and features. From when I started the project to seeing how it turned out, I was pretty surprised. Because of my past failed attempts, I expected this to come out poorly. To my surprise, it became my best piece that I made in the class. That piece and the still life I did displayed the most improvement I had. I learned the most from these pieces about how shading and accurate placement of shapes on the piece can have a huge impact on how the piece turns out. I think next time I draw at home I will try to be more accurate about my placement and size, and I will make sure everything is the right shade to show the proper depth. Next year I plan on taking drawing and painting as well as advanced drawing and painting. To me, being able to draw well is a goal I have always had, and I look up to people who are good at it. Over the summer, me and a friend have decided we are going to try and draw with each other a lot so we can improve before the next school year.
I make art to express what’s in my mind and how I feel. I hope to improve my drawing skills over the course of this class, and next year I plan on take drawing and painting.
