Winter Poems

Note: The Poem Below was written Under a Table during a Lockdown Drill in December.

Silence

by Anelise Feldman

Silence, like a blanket cast across the room

Silence, like a flower about to bloom.

Silence, with its ever watchful eyes.

Silence, reaching up to the sky.

Silence, taking away my words.

Silence heals, silence hurts.

Silence never says a word.

But Silence is always heard.

Silence can feel big or small,

Light or dark, short or tall.

Gloomy nights, summer days,

Silence comes in many ways.

Note: This poem was written under a table, during a lockdown drill. We were practicing SILENCE right after having played with figures of speech.

Christmas Time

On the 24th of Christmas night,

Santa takes off his sleigh and begins a big flight,

with presents and candy galore,

gives all the children a night to adore

The night is quiet, all children asleep,

so he sneaks down the chimney without a peep,

the ornaments clanking as he stuffs the tree,

then out of the chimney ready to flee!

The next house has a chimney so tall,

that he cannot go down without a fall,

he opens the front door with a slight creak,

the air was so warm that he burnt his cheek!
