To understand how a line can be used to create a three-dimensional form
To create a sculpture that considers balance and repetition, variety and emphasis
To consider where artists find their inspiration
I see variety in my sculpture in the variance in the size of loops, angle of loops, and other shapes made by the reed. To show emphasis, I glued a piece of thin white paper into one of the inner loops of my sculpture. I think that It added emphasis to the sculpture by giving your eyes somewhere to look.
I did not previously know how to sculpt things with wooden reeds. I had never done it before and the process is new to me. One step of the process that was particularly new to me was the gluing process. Overall, I think that I learned a lot about sculpting with reeds.
