Purpose:
To use the correct facial proportions to draw yourself as accurately as you can;
To draw the individual features, eyes, nose, mouth in a convincing 3D way;
To use charcoal and a stomp to show value changes and dimension.
After receiving feedback from your peers, teacher, and/or through a group discussion, what did you do to improve your self portrait? Please be specific.
When I thought I was complete with my self portrait my teacher gave me lots of things that I could do to improve it. I was told that it needed to be more bold and that it had to have more shading where areas were darker on the face. I made those improvements and then I was told by my teacher that it still needs to be more bold so I added more definition to all of my facial features.
Explain at least three main concepts that you have learned throughout this unit:
The three main concepts I learned throughout this unit were:
Shading - shading really helped me to understand were light hit on three dimensional objects and were not to put shading to all allow it to seem like it wasn’t a 2 dimensional drawing
Highlighting - Highlighting helped me to understand where light was hitting on an object and how it could bring out a person's facial features.
Basics of drawing facial features - this helped me to practice how to draw things like eyes, lips and a nose. Without practice I probably would have struggled with this art piece.
