Hello! My name is Mrs. English and I have the honor of being your student's Band Director this year.
I am originally from Fallston, NC (about 18 minutes northwest of Shelby and 45 minutes west of Charlotte) and have been passionate about music from a young age. I am a 2015 graduate of Burns High School in Lawndale (Go Dawgs!) and a 2019 graduate from Mars Hill University with a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Music (Go Mountain Lions!). I have been a member of various musical ensembles since 4th Grade and am a staunch advocate for music education in each of its forms.
I have been married to the love of my life, Tyler (pictured above), since 2021 and live in Mars Hill with our two cats, Sadie and Tilly.
By joining an ensemble, whether that be Band, Orchestra, or Chorus, your student is making the choice to learn responsibility, time management, consistency, and overall, the ability to 'make and learn' from each mistake they make. Students in our program will learn self discipline and perseverance through a high quality music education.
Fun Facts about Mrs. English:
I am the youngest sibling of five. I have one sister and three brothers.
I have been to New York City twice, once during my Junior year of high school and immediately following my Sophomore year at MHU. NYC is one of my favorite places in the world!
While in NYC, I performed with the MHU University Choir at Carnegie Hall. This is one of my greatest accomplishments to date.
I am obsessed with any and all things Marvel and Star Wars related; my husband and I have several posters of both franchises on display in our home.
My favorite time of year is late Fall/early Winter. My husband and I's anniversary is in late November, which makes that time of year extra special!
