Roles and Responsibilities 

Concert Master (1) 

• Provides tuning note at the beginning of each concert, rehearsal, or as needed. 

• Student MUST have a tuner.

• Models excellent musicianship and professionalism when interacting with the band. 

Assistant Concert Master (1) 

• Same responsibilities as CM...

• Fills in for CM in their absence. 

Section Leaders (6-8) 

• Maintains a positive relationship with each member of their section.

• Assists Director with the taking of daily attendance. 

• Models professionalism, humility, and excellent musicianship at all times. 

• Lead sectional rehearsals. 

• Answer questions from Section members. 

• Assists with weekly binder checks. 

• Checks designated grade level boxes for mew music/handouts to pass out & collects papers as needed. 

• Offers peer tutoring/encouragement to section members as needed. 

• Assists Instrument Warden in assessing repair/other item needs. 

Assistant Section Leaders (6-8)

• Assists SL with duties as assigned. 

Instrument Warden (6)

• Routinely assesses upkeep and maintenance of instruments. 

• Assesses appropriate quantity of reeds, mouthpieces, etc. in student instrument cases. 

Music Librarian (1)

• This job requires great organizational skills and attention to detail. 

• Pulling and filing sheet music. 

• Maintaining organization of music library. 

Stage Managers (4)

• Responsible for directing setup and tear-down before/after concerts or other special events. 

• Often delegates jobs to others such as maintaining the correct number of chairs/stands per row. 

Class Historian (6; one per grade level)

• Responsible for creating fun posters/bulletin board themes each month. 

• Responsible for taking photos of rehearsals/special events for the bulletin board/YCMS Band Website. 

• Monthly meetings with Director to discuss the theme of the month.
