Become a Stellar Storyteller!
< Please SMRF this workbook.
You can read this workbook: Foundations for Writing
for information about what we all need to write well.
Recounts are like most other kinds of writing; they have a beginning and end.
Each part has a certain job to do. We are going to learn about them and what to include in each part.
We are going to learn to use Onomatopoeia in our writing.
Here is our presentation about Onomatopoeia.
We will learn what action verbs are and learn some cool ones to use to express ourselves more accurately.

Dear Sally,
I thought of you when I went for a swim yesterday because I know how much you enjoy swimming. So I thought I would write to see how you are. What have you been up to? Hasn't it been great weather, I hope you have been able to get out on some adventures.
I have been to the movies with some friends and last week I went to the beach to try surfing with my family. We were not very good but we all did get up on the board. It was really funny when Dad fell off. My brother spent most of the time on his skimmer, which is also quite funny to watch. Have you ever tried one? It is quite tricky to balance.
School starts again next week. Although I have enjoyed the holidays, it will be good to see my school friends. I wonder when you and I will see each other again? Would you like to come and stay during the next holidays? I will ask my Mum if it would be okay. I hope you enjoy your first week back at school.
Your friend
Lucy
Task 1
Ms Lange has written you a letter via email. You are to write back using the same format (how it is set out) as the one to the left to Sally. Remember to write your ideas in proper sentences with full stops and capital letters. Also sort your ideas into paragraphs about the same subject.
Extra for experts: Find all of the mistakes in my email, write them and the correction, and email me.
Task 2
Write a letter to your Mum for Mother's day. Make sure you include lots of details, thank her for specific things your mum does to help you and some special memories you have of her. Have it published and pretty by Friday afternoon.
This is not a letter:
Dear Mum,
I love you,
from Cindy.
(that is a note and you CAN and will do much better!)
There is a 'Pick the Complete Sentence' activity below you can try too.
