We officially launched the 34th Library and Information Services Month and the 90th National Book Week at our Monday Assembly! We kicked things off with a burst of energy as the Dance Society got everyone moving in a Zumba session, with the library team and ABM teachers showing off their moves!
Ms. Athena Jaca, our SHS Head Librarian, then took the stage to reveal an exciting lineup of activities for both LIS Month and National Book Week . To wrap up our lively morning, Ms. Krystal Valmores, our LISM and NBW Chairperson, led everyone in singing “On Crusader .

📚✨ DataQuest Fair: Hybrid Online Database User Training ✨📚
From November 11-15, the Xavier Senior High Library successfully conducted a Hybrid Online Database User Training, bringing together both in-person and online participants to enhance their research skills and knowledge of academic resources.
Participants explored the resources offered by our subscribed online databases, learning how to access peer-reviewed journals and eBooks, develop effective basic research strategies, and utilize tips on proper citation, downloading, and printing.
This event reflects our commitment to fostering information literacy and lifelong learning among our community.
A heartfelt thank you to all participants for your active involvement, whether online or face-to-face. Your enthusiasm drives our mission to make learning accessible and impactful!
🌟 AUTHOR TALK WITH MS. JANE VERGARA 🌟
On November 18, our library was filled with excitement as we hosted the celebrated author, Ms. Jane Vergara, for a special Author Talk event. It was amazing to see so many of you join us, eager to hear her story and gain insight into her journey as a writer.
Ms. Vergara shared her experiences, emphasizing the value of perseverance, creativity, and staying true to your passions. Her words truly resonated with many of you, inspiring us all to dream big and believe in our potential.
The Q&A session was one of the highlights! We loved how curious and engaged you all were, asking such thoughtful and inspiring questions. While we couldn’t address every question due to time constraints, it was clear how much this event meant to everyone.

The library has officially concluded the celebrations of Library and Information Services Month and National Book Week. Both celebrations showed the value of reading books and publications written by local writers to help the community better understand our nationality as true Filipinos and how these local information contributors shape our community and the future of our beloved country. LIS MONTH BOOK EXHIBIT
This is in line with the theme “Mga Aklatan Bilang Kanlungan ng Karunungan: Tagapangalaga ng Kultura at Pamanang Lokal". The purpose of this exhibit is to promote the Filipiniana collections of the library, create awareness on local heritage and culture, and encourage the love of reading.

The theme for the 2021 LIS month is "Libraries building ROADS: Readers. Opportunities. Advocacies. Development. Sustainability.” The celebration focuses on engendering public awareness of the invaluable service that libraries and information centers render.
In line with this, the library conducted a webinar series on November 13, Saturday at 9:00 am via Zoom in collaboration with Xavier University Libraries and American Corner - Cagayan de Oro. This webinar aimed to inculcate the love of reading and foster a culture of research and innovation in our community.
