Klaipeda valstybine kolegija /Higher Education Instiution is the third largest Lithuanian Higher Education Institution of Applied Sciences with a strong academic reputation. The initial goal of KVK is to ensure a high quality of teaching and research. The Higher Education Institution of Applied Sciences offers study programs leading to a profession. Graduates of the Higher Education Institution of Applied Sciences earn a professional bachelor's degree. The studies are practice oriented; students can successfully apply their knowledge in a real work environment. The Institution promotes lifelong learning for adults.
The number of students is as follows: 2021/22 3,200 students; with the help of approx. 300 teachers. The Institution is ternary: it consists of three faculties: Faculty of Business, Faculty of Technologies and Faculty of Health Sciences with a total of 24 study programs.
To guarantee quality, the institution follows the Study Quality Manual. Since 2012, KVK updates this manual and carries out the necessary activities to introduce the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
KVK is equipped with modern laboratories, libraries and other facilities. The Institution has a strong international profile and participates in numerous global networks (eg D-learn). Various projects and activities are carried out through these networks, as KVK is connected with around 200 international partner institutions. The Institution´s experience includes the implementation and management of international educational and research projects with partners from around the world.
The Klaipeda State Higher Education Institution of Applied Sciences is highly oriented towards adult education. The adult training center has been established and has been running successfully ever since. He teaches numerous formal and informal courses for adults already in the workplace to increase their skills and help them meet the challenges of modern citizenship. In addition, a wide variety of scientific research is carried out, as well as different projects and consulting activities. A lot of research is also carried out in the fields of technology, biomedicine, physics, social, humanitarian, arts...
In its international project activities, KVK is committed to the transfer of technical knowledge and the development and implementation of project-related objectives for the benefit and advancement of higher education. In basic and applied research, the Institution encourages thematic and methodological variety within a network of international cooperation and builds its profile by determining research approaches under consideration of socially relevant research questions. Innovative interdisciplinary research and cooperation are among the particularly encouraged topics.
