How to get my first job?
“If I had enough money, I would travel to...”

“At your age, I was already working...”
Do these sentences sound familiar? Now you are turning sixteen or seventeen so, among other rights and duties, you could decide to work on the weekends or summer holidays.
Searching for a job is not an easy task, even more so when you have no experience. Youth unemployment rate is high because of leaving school early, but also due to the mismatch of supply and demand between work and education level. Anyway, working part-time is compatible with carrying on studies and this first job wouldn’t be your last one. So where to start? Figuring out which are the best places to find a job, writing a cover letter and a résumé, a self-knowledge test, preparing for an interview... We should do a roadmap!
Can you describe yourself? Well, I am an organized person that works hard and likes to learn new things. I always do the best I can and I don't start a thing that I can't finish.
What motivates you in life? My main motivation is my future because what I have learned is that all can improve and all can be better. My second motivation is my family that is always there for me.
What are your short- and long-term career goals? For the moment I want to finish high school and then I want to go to UB university.
What are your greatest strengths? My greatest skill is my creativity and sensitivity. I can deal with the most complicated clients and be patient and polite.
Where do you see yourself in five years? Finishing university and getting a job as a teacher.
What are your hobbies and interests? I really enjoy doing artistic activities like painting and drawing. I used to read a lot but I also do outside activities because I really like to seize the day.
Can you describe your educational background? I am a very diligent student that likes to study and learn new things. I finished ESO last year and now I’m studying a humanistic batxillerat.
Explain how your background qualifies you for this job. Being a patient and educated person, it would not be difficult for me to deal with children. In addition to being able to propose various creative activities so that they can entertain themselves. I also have some experience treating small children.
Are you comfortable working flexible hours? At the moment I am young and have a flexible schedule, but I would like to have a fixed schedule that would give me some freedom on the weekends.
