Day Five

My colleague and I visited the library of the AICS South Campus. It is located ina green and spacious area with good infrastructure in the southeast of Amsterdam. In August 2023, this campus will move to a new building.

Warm wood and white also predominate on the walls of this building.

Despina showed us the library, the distribution of the books and the activities she organises for primary school pupils. She also showed us how the cataloguing system works and how the books are labelled.

Despina told a story to children aged 4. My colleague Paula dared to tell them a story as well. They were all very excited and enthusiastic about the stories.

We visited different classrooms for primary education. There are 22 pupils in each classroom. In each classroom there are open and separeted spaces. On one side of the classroom pupils can sit in a circle on a large carpet and on the other side there are tables arranged in groups. Pupils move freely around the classroom and work independently.
