The “e-Soleo” project was implemented within the Erasmus+ program KA121SCH – mobility of students and staff in the school education sector, from June 1, 2024 to August 31, 2025.
It involved 45 students (aged 14-15) from three schools:
INSTITUT JOAN AMIGÓ I CALLAU
L'Espluga de Francolí (SPAIN)
BILINGUAL PRIMARY SCHOOL NO. 1
Warsaw (POLAND)
DIETRICH-BONHOEFFER-GYMNASIUM
Bergisch Gladbach (GERMANY)
The "E-Soleo" project aimed to expand knowledge about the Sun and make students aware of the importance of solar energy for generating electricity in the face of the current pollution of the Earth and the energy crisis.
Thanks to their participation in an interdisciplinary project in correlation with the English language, students from partner schools:
- They learned about the Sun by making observations and exploring the area of energy produced by this star in terms of its use by humans
- They learned to discuss the positive and negative aspects of solar installations
- They learned about areas of human culture for which the Sun has become an inspiration for the creation of outstanding works
- They performed a number of experiments in the field of observation of the Sun, estimation of the size of sunspots and the rotation period, calculation of the amount of energy provided by the Sun
- They analysed the use of solar energy to produce electricity in a photovoltaic cell
- They learned to record the results of experiments in a scientific journal, analyse and draw conclusions
And most importantly:
Our students developed digital, language, international teamwork, entrepreneurship, creativity and strategic thinking skills.
They have built lasting relationships with their peers from partner schools.
Selected project results:
- Pinhole cameras for solargraphy
- Images made using cyanotype and solargraphy techniques
- Description and construction of a model for the use of energy from the Sun using solar modules and an electric engine
- Researches report - Sun observations - sunrises, sunsets, shadow length
- Report: The use of solar energy in my school
- Oxford-style debate: Should solar energy in the form of photovoltaic systems become the primary energy source for Europe's population?
- Podcasts on Solar energy, solar energy in the different countries and the different climates.
- Exhibition and album of photographs: "The journey of the sun across the sky"
