Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC)

Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, mandates that any work related to the genetic engineering of microorganisms has to be reviewed and approved by an Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC). This committee was established in 2003 for St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. IBSC oversees all biology-related research carried out in Caius Research Laboratory and other college departments.
