ADMISSION INFORMATION
FIRST YEAR (FY) ADMISSION
Programme- B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Sc. (IT)
Preliminary Procedure:
Online Application System through a facility on its website. This facility is made available on the college website (www.xaviers.edu) from second half of May.
Programme- B.Com
Preliminary Procedure:
Admission to B.Com. is through the College Office (Commerce Section), by filling up and submitting a form and through an interview with the Vice Principal (Commerce) or his representative.
Programme- BMM/ BMS
Preliminary Procedure: Entrance Test
Applications for admissions to the B.M.M. and B.M.S. courses are to be submitted online, and the admission process includes an Entrance Test. This facility is made available on the college website (www.xaviers.edu) from 1st week of May. Deadline for form submission is 30th May.
Admission Procedure:
Actual admissions to all courses will be on the announced days, through a meeting with the candidate and a Parent / Guardian. The offer of admission will be notified on the College website and on the College Notice Board. On being admitted, the student will have to submit the following documents (Original plus attested photocopies):
Class XII Statement of Marks
Baptism Certificate (for Minority Christian community only)
Caste Certificate (wherever applicable)
Documentary Evidence for Special Category Status
Passing Certificate (required for getting the Eligibility Certificate)
Migration Certificate (required for getting the Eligibility Certificate)
The 1st/2nd/3rd merit lists will be as per the University circular for that academic year. The first list date is decided by the University. Thereafter a one day gap between each merit list. A third list may not be put up if seats are full.
The University of Mumbai has made it mandatory for all candidates seeking admission to the First Year courses in the Degree Colleges to fill in the ‘Pre-Admission Online Registration Form’ which is available on (http://mum.digitaluniversity.in).
Commencement of classes– last week of June or 1st week of July.
Eligibility Certificate
Candidates passing Class XII Examinations from Foreign Boards and students passing from International Baccalaureate or ‘A’ levels examinations - General Certificate of Education / Cambridge International School Exam of Cambridge or University of London must first obtain a ‘PRIMA FACIE’ Eligibility Letter from the University of Mumbai for the purpose of admissions to all First Year Degree Courses, namely B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. / B.M.M. / B.M.S. / B.Sc. (IT).

Note: For Foreign Boards, the Class XII Examination has to be cleared in one sitting only.
Students passing the Class XII from Boards other than Maharashtra State Board and seeking admissions to First Year B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. / B.M.M. / B.M.S. / B.Sc. (IT) are required to apply for a Provisional Eligibility Certificate through the College at the time of admission. The application form is available in the College Office. It should be duly filled, submitted with an attested copy of the Class XII marksheet and a passport size photograph along with the prescribed fees of Rs.320 and verification of document fees of Rs.500 (Total Rs.820) to the College Office. Post admission, confirmation of eligibility is initiated by the College Office, with the help of documents listed in 4.2.5 of the College Handbook.
SECOND YEAR (SY) ADMISSION
Programme- SYBA/BSc/ BSc-IT/ BMM/ BMS:
Admission Procedure :
For a student moving from First year to Second year, there is no new application procedure. Subjects are allotted on the basis of merit as per the combination allotted in the first year.
Students from other colleges who wish to get into Xavier’s in the second year will need to enquire with the general office about possible vacancies in the first week of June. An application form duly filled by the students as a hard copy will then be forwarded to the respective departments to ensure that the HOD has no objection to the students applying for the seat. Thereafter, the students will have to appear for an interview with the VP (Arts/Science) and if they pass the interview, they will be admitted into the college.
THIRD YEAR (TY) ADMISSION
Programme- TYBA/ BSc
Admission Procedure -
For a student moving from Second year to Third year, the application process begins in February of Semester 4. Students are expected to submit their pre-application forms with marksheets for sem. 1, 2 and 3. The deadline for the application for a specific subject/ combination is in February.
The forms are submitted to the office, data compiled and sent to the HODs mid-March and the list is prepared by end of April (around 30th April).
Final application forms available in the general office would need to be filled, based on the combination that has been allotted, in the first week of May.
TY Applied Component:
BA- Students are allotted the applied component as per the subject combination allotted in the First year.
BSc- Application forms are online from mid-March to April first week. The allotment is done subject to availability and eligibility for the course. The process is completed in the first week of May along with TYBA/BSc admissions
Programme: TY BSc-IT/ BMM/ BMS:
For a student moving from Second year to third year, there is no new application procedure.
Admissions take place in the first week of May.
College begins between 5th and 10th of June.
POST GRADUATE ADMISSION
Programme: MA (AIHCA, Public Policy and Psychology)
M.Sc. (Botany, Biotechnology, Big Data Analytics, Geology, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Physics [Astrophysics])
Preliminary Procedure:
Online Application System through a facility on its website. This facility is made available on the college website (www.xaviers.edu) from second half of May till first week of June.
Admission Procedure:
M.Sc. (Botany, Biotechnology, Big Data Analytics, Geology, Life Sciences, Microbiology)
The first merit list will be displayed after the declaration of TYBSc/TYBA results by the University of Mumbai.
Subsequent merit lists (second /Third) will be displayed subject to availability of seats in each Programme.
Note: In the event of delay in declaration of TY results by the university of Mumbai, the college may decide to initiate its admission process based on Fifth Semester (SEM V) marks of the UG program. A special notice will be put up to this effect in the event that this procedure is adopted.
MA (AIHCA and Psychology)
An entrance test will be held in the last week of May / first week of June.
Admission will be based on Merit list displayed on the basis of entrance test marks and UG final year marks.
MA Public Policy:
Process: Entrance examination and Intervi
Online Entrance Examination is held on the first Sunday of June across the country.
Interviews are held on site and via Skype (for outstation students).
The merit list is displayed based on scores obtained in the test and interview.
MSc -Physics (Astrophysics)
Process: Submission of Statement of Purpose (SOP), List of accomplishments, Recommendation Letter and Personal Interview.
The Merit list is generated using the scores obtained in the following instruments: SOP, List of accomplishments, Recommendation Letter ,Interview and Final year UG marks.
The process details and deadlines for each subject will be announced on the website.
Classes commence around the 1st week of July subject to declaration of results by the University of Mumbai for all Subjects .
An orientation is held for the students on the first day of lectures.
