Occasionally we will write in our journal (the front of our journal notebook). Sometimes a topic is given, sometimes it is a "free write" option. Journal entries should be titled, dated, and pertain to the topic given. Entries are graded as done/not done. Points are given if the journal is current at the time of the 'journal check' and pertains to the topic given.

The reader/writer notebook is in the back of the journal notebook separate from our classroom notebook. This is ongoing work. Topics are given, and a table of contents is kept for this notebook. Points are given for keeping the notebook current at the time of the 'reader/writer notebook check' including the table of contents.
