St. Francis Xavier Catholic School System is a Christ-centered community dedicated to faith formation, academic excellence, community engagement, and individual growth of our students in a safe environment.
All students enrolled at Xavier Elementary School, McDonald Street Campus receive comprehensive, developmental school counseling services that are aligned with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and the greater mission of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic School System. Through the services offered, students will acquire essential skills regarding learning, post-secondary and career exploration, emotional regulation, and interacting within a society to experience a greater degree of opportunity with a diverse and ever-changing world.
To succeed in our mission, the school counselor team will strive to build a community where all are welcomed. The school counseling team will:
Provide unlimited support to encourage intellectual, spiritual, emotional, social, and physical growth of all students appropriate with developmental levels
Challenge and support students in their journey towards independence, social connections, and a healthy lifestyle
Support and encourage students as they explore different careers and post-secondary options
Recognize barriers to academic progress related to cultural issues and foster inclusive learning environments
Collaborate with teachers, support staff, specialists, and administration to recognize and respond to the needs of all students through a trauma informed lens
Invite parents into a partnership with the school to best support their child/student
Ensure that programs, activities, and initiatives are developed and implemented with the students' best interest at heart
Foster a welcoming community where culturally diverse individuals feel valued, loved, seen, and heard.
The comprehensive school counseling program offered at Xavier Elementary School, McDonald Street Campus is rooted in the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) national model.
