Theatre Production Class 1 & 2 provides students with an opportunity to perform as an actor or technician in a one act, fully costumed and designed show. Rehearsals and performances are during the class period 95% of the time. The exceptions are one technical rehearsal and one dress rehearsal after school or evening hours so that we can work without interruptions for 2-3 hours. There is usually 1 public performance on a weeknight evening for parents, friends and the community to attend.
Elementary school groups are the main audience for these class productions and groups have been known to come from an 80 mile radius! The show provides a wonderful opportunity for students to use public speaking skills, collaboration, problem solving and planning for short and long term goals. Students become the teachers during the talk-back/ Q and A session following each performance.
Students are asked to work on set and costumes on Saturday mornings and after school during open work times. Each student must contribute a number of hours to this process as determined by the type and style of the show per term.
Plan ahead! This class will be offered again during the 2022/23 school year.
