Intention
Layers refer to the various elements present within an image that occupy different planes of depth, creating visual interest and depth perception. These layers can encompass subjects, textures, patterns, foreground, middle ground, and background elements, each contributing to the overall composition.
Each image that you create is made up of various layers, and I want to investigate how these layers work. I will look into buildings, explore film-work, and examine a range of art pieces to understand better how layers function in different contexts. I will also explore abstract ways to view layers and examine both the basic elements of layers, such as using the double exposure element, and geometric layers, which present a different outlook on layers. I aim to create a portfolio which showcases a range of skills and accurately vocalises my message of how I view layers as an exam question.
Overall, I aim to produce around 120 images that depict my interpretation of layers create a cohesive theme throughout my portfolio and look at ways I consistently improve my images.
