Recognizing the urgent need for resources to address ongoing wildfires and provide essential relief to affected communities, the Wyoming Grants Management Office (GMO) continues to research federal and state funding that could potentially be leveraged for wildfire planning, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts. In May 2025, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) announced the release of $1 billion to livestock producers impacted by drought or wildfire in 2023 and 2024. Eligible producers must have an approved Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP) application on file for 2023 and/or 2024. Payments are automatically issued and can be received for one or both years. LFP provides up to 60% of the estimated replacement feed cost when an eligible drought adversely impacts grazing lands or 50% of the monthly feed cost for the number of days the producer is prohibited from grazing federally managed rangeland because of a qualifying wildfire.
